The AVG Video Font Disk
There are over 30 typefaces on this disk, several in varying sizes, and they
have been organized by category. These fonts were chosen from a wide range
of Amiga Public Domain Fonts for their suitability for transfer to video.
I chose fonts larger than 20 pixels in height so that they will be more
visible, and avoided line widths smaller than two pixels so that they will
not shimmer or have detail lost when translated to NTSC.
By clicking on any of the Assign icons, that set of fonts will be assigned
as the default system fonts. Keep the VideoFonts disk in one drive, and
DeluxePaint in the other. To change fonts, go to the DPaint Screen Format
Requester and click ok without changing anything. This resets the font file
directory. Use the Left Amiga + n to switch back to the Workbench screen
(you must have an open window on the Workbench or this will not work),
and click on the Assign icon of your choice. Return to DeluxePaint using
either the depth gadgets or Left Amiga + m. If you load the font directory,
you will now have a new set of fonts. This makes changing font directories
very simple. To see the complete set of fonts, use the ShowFont utility.
To resore the fonts back to the system fonts, double click on the Restore
System Foonts icon. If your system fonts are on Workbench (rather than in
Ram or on a hard disk), you will have to put the Workbench disk back in the
drive if you have removed it.
The soon to be released DeluxePaint III will handle fonts with a friendlier
interface, allowing you to load font directories from within the program.
Other programs, such as Photon Paint, already allow the loading of font
directories. Until all programs work this way, the assign icons will make
your life much easier.
